Chinese automakers are anticipated to continue their rapid expansion overseas, and by 2030, will account for 33% of the global automotive market share, foreign media cited consultancy firm AlixPartners report. For this year, the market share of Chinese automakers is expected to be 21%, with most of the growth stemming from the contribution of overseas markets
The report estimates that overseas sales of Chinese carmakers will grow from 3 million units this year to 9 million units in 2030, meaning that the related market share will grow from 3% to 13% by the end of 2030.
AlixPartners projects Chinese auto brands to thrive in all global markets, although the scale of expansion will be much smaller in Japan and North America, where vehicle safety standards are more stringent. By 2030, the market share of Chinese automakers in North America will be merely 3%, mostly concentrated in Mexico, where 20% of cars are expected to come from Chinese brands. As for Europe, it is forecast that the market share of Chinese brands will increase from the current 6% to 12% in 2030.
