Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Thursday as softer U.S. data narrowed the odds on a September rate cut there, boosting bonds and commodities while dragging on the dollar.
The Hang Seng Index rose 101.1 points, or 0.5 percent, to open at 18,079.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.08 percent to open at 2,984, while the Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.1 percent higher at 8,775 points. (Xunhua/Reuters)
