In the first two weeks of July, 578,000 passenger cars were sold on the retail market in China, a YoY hike of 3%, and a rise of 6% over the same period last month, as data released by China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed. The total retail sales YTD reached 10.417 million units, up 3% YoY. During the period, passenger car manufacturers wholesaled 449,000 vehicles, down 23% YoY and down 15% from a month earlier. The total number of vehicles wholesaled YTD was 12.201 million, up 5% YoY.
In the first two weeks of July, retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China totaled 286,000 units, up 27% YoY and up 6% from the same period last month, data also revealed. The total retail sales YTD hit 4.399 million units, up 33% YoY. During the period, passenger car makers wholesaled 251,000 NEVs, up 10% YoY and down 13% from the same period last month. The total number of NEVs wholesaled YTD was 4.87 million, up 29% YoY.
