The size of Thailand‘s stock market is relatively small, but it still holds certain influence in the Southeast Asian region. In recent years, the Thai stock market has performed well, drawing the interest of both domestic and foreign investors. Thailand has numerous stock brokers providing stock trading services, and some brokers also offer trading services for other financial products such as forex and derivatives. The Thai stock market is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Thailand in a relatively sound regulatory environment. With the growth of the Thai economy and the development of the financial system, the stock market may well appeal to more domestic and foreign investors. The government is also pushing for capital market reforms to enhance the market’s competitiveness and attractiveness. However, it is still necessary to pay attention to potential risks, such as global economic uncertainty and political stability, which may impact the market. In an attempt to provide investors with a more comprehensive understanding of current Thai brokers, WikiStock survey team is determined to go to the country for on-site visits to local companies.
On-site visit
In this issue, the survey team went to Thailand to visit broker Phillip Capital as planned according to its registered regulatory address that 11th floor, 14th floor, Room 1404 and 15th floor, Vorawat Building, 849 Silom Road, Silom Subdistrict, Bangrak District, Bangkok 10500.
The investigators came to 849 Silom Road in Bang Rak of Bangkok, Thailand for a visit to the brokers office on December 19, 2023, and located Vorawat Building, a modern commercial structure, at the corner of Silom Road and Soi Pramuan Road. The building boasts a coveted location easily accessible via public transports in close proximity to many MRT stations and Light Rail stations. Additionally, an outdoor signage at the entrance displayed prominently the exclusive underground park sign of broker Phillip Capital.
Upon arrival at the building for further investigation, the survey personnel spotted a directory in the lobby, which displayed that suite 1102, 1404, 1501-1504 were occupied by Phillip Capital and its relevant Group companies. However, people werent allowed to go to the working area upstairs without an access card as a result of the stringent security rules. Unfortunately, the specific office size of the broker is unconfirmed because of the failure to visit its office internally.
Through the on-site investigation, it is confirmed that the broker has a physical presence at the location.
Conclusion
The survey team went to Thailand to visit broker Phillip Capital as scheduled, and found the companys name at its regulatory address. This signifies that the broker has a physical business office at the place. Meanwhile, investors are advised to make a sensible decision following much deliberation.
